Regal Medical Transportation

Transportation planning for outpatient procedures

Outpatient procedures often involve early check-in, an uncertain release time, and facility-specific rules for the trip home. Regal can review private transportation for an ambulatory passenger when the facility permits a standard passenger vehicle and all escort requirements are arranged.

Plan the trip

Details that make this ride different

Good transportation planning starts with the schedule, correct entrance, realistic return timing, and a clear understanding of what the passenger can do independently.

01

Ask the facility about its discharge policy first

Many surgery centers require a responsible adult to remain onsite, receive instructions, or accompany the patient after sedation. A hired ride may not satisfy that policy. The passenger must confirm the facility’s rules and arrange any required escort independently. Regal provides transportation only and cannot act as a medical escort, caregiver, or responsible adult.

02

Treat the outbound and return trips separately

The morning ride can usually be planned around a firm check-in time, while the return depends on the procedure and recovery. Include both needs in the inquiry. Regal will confirm whether the return can be scheduled, requested later, or supported with approved waiting time; the outbound booking does not automatically include a vehicle held through the procedure.

03

Reassess ambulatory fit after the procedure

A passenger who could enter the vehicle before surgery may need more assistance afterward. The facility and passenger are responsible for determining whether a standard passenger vehicle remains appropriate. Regal cannot transport a person who requires a lift, ramp, stretcher, hands-on transfer, medical supervision, or equipment support, even if the outbound ride was completed.

04

Use the designated surgery pickup area

Hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers may discharge from an entrance different from the morning check-in door. Share the surgery center name, building, and discharge instructions as soon as they are known. A companion should be prepared to bring the passenger to the confirmed curbside location and handle all clinical instructions and personal care.

What to share with Regal

Keep the request focused on transportation. These details help the team review the route without collecting sensitive health information.

  • Facility escort or companion requirement
  • Separate return-pickup preference
  • Only general transportation and mobility details

Return-trip considerations

Sedation and responsible-adult requirements

Regal’s chauffeur is not a caregiver and cannot sign discharge paperwork, receive medical instructions, monitor recovery, or remain with a passenger after drop-off. If sedation is involved, verify whether the facility will release the patient to a commercial chauffeur and whether a separate responsible adult must ride along. The facility’s policy controls; Regal confirmation does not override it.

A request is not a reservation. The ride is booked only after Regal confirms the date, schedule, route, passenger fit, and quote.

Questions about this service

Before you request a ride

Can a Regal chauffeur serve as my required surgery escort?

No. The chauffeur provides transportation only and cannot serve as a responsible adult, caregiver, medical escort, or signer for discharge instructions.

Will the same vehicle wait during my procedure?

Not automatically. Waiting time or a return trip must be reviewed and confirmed in advance, and availability may require a separate pickup.

What if I need more help getting into the vehicle afterward?

Tell Regal before pickup. If hands-on assistance, a wheelchair lift, a ramp, a stretcher, or medical monitoring is needed, another transportation provider is required.
