Regal Medical Transportation

Ambulatory transportation after hospital discharge

When a passenger is cleared to leave the hospital and can safely use a standard passenger vehicle, Regal can review a private, prearranged ride home or to another approved destination. Discharge timing and passenger readiness must be confirmed before pickup.

Plan the trip

Details that make this ride different

Good transportation planning starts with the schedule, correct entrance, realistic return timing, and a clear understanding of what the passenger can do independently.

01

Discharge clearance comes before vehicle arrival

Hospitals control the medical discharge process, and release times can change as instructions, prescriptions, or final evaluations are completed. Request transportation after the care team provides a realistic release window. Regal cannot influence discharge timing, enter clinical areas, or accept responsibility for a passenger who has not been cleared to leave.

02

Confirm the passenger can use a standard vehicle

Before booking, confirm that the passenger can walk to the vehicle, enter and exit with little or no assistance, and remain seated with the standard seat belt. A hospital’s decision to discharge someone does not automatically establish fit for Regal’s ambulatory service. Wheelchair-lift, ramp, stretcher, and hands-on transfer needs require another transportation provider.

03

Identify the correct discharge pickup point

A hospital may use a dedicated discharge lounge, patient tower entrance, surgery entrance, or main lobby. Share the campus, building, entrance, and a reachable contact person. The passenger or companion should be at the confirmed curbside pickup point because chauffeurs do not retrieve passengers from rooms, nursing units, or interior waiting areas.

04

Plan for belongings and a companion

Tell Regal about the number of travelers and ordinary personal belongings before confirmation. A companion can often help the passenger follow facility instructions and reach the pickup point, but companion travel remains subject to seating and trip confirmation. Regal chauffeurs do not handle medical equipment, oxygen systems, medications, or post-discharge care.

What to share with Regal

Keep the request focused on transportation. These details help the team review the route without collecting sensitive health information.

  • Hospital and exact discharge entrance
  • Best available release window
  • Passenger and companion contact numbers
  • Confirmed destination address
  • Number of passengers and ordinary luggage
  • Any change affecting entry into a standard vehicle

Return-trip considerations

Managing a changing release time

Discharge estimates are often revised. Keep Regal updated before the scheduled pickup, and do not ask the chauffeur to wait indefinitely while discharge is completed. Depending on availability, the trip may need a new pickup time or a separate booking. Additional waiting or schedule changes apply only when Regal confirms them; submitting an inquiry does not reserve a vehicle.

A request is not a reservation. The ride is booked only after Regal confirms the date, schedule, route, passenger fit, and quote.

Questions about this service

Before you request a ride

Can the hospital call Regal when I am ready?

A patient, family member, or facility representative may submit an inquiry, but the trip is booked only after Regal confirms the passenger fit, pickup details, availability, and quote.

Will the chauffeur come to the hospital room?

No. Regal provides curb-to-curb passenger transportation. The passenger must reach the confirmed discharge pickup point without hands-on assistance from the chauffeur.

Can Regal transport someone who needs a wheelchair after discharge?

Not in this service phase. Regal does not currently provide wheelchair-lift or ramp-equipped vehicles, wheelchair securement, stretcher service, or assisted transfers.
